"KEEP THESE WORDS THAT I AM COMMANDING YOU TODAY IN YOUR HEART. RECITE THEM TO YOUR CHILDREN AND TALK ABOUT THEM WHEN YOU ARE AT HOME AND WHEN YOU ARE AWAY, WHEN YOU LIE DOWN AND WHEN YOU RISE." DEUTERONOMY 6:6-7

Educational ministries are a vital part of who Good Shepherd is as a church - we have a Sunday School for youth up to 8th grade starting at 9:15am on Sundays during church

Our Sunday School classes for 5th Grade and Younger use the Deep Blue Curriculum. The students begin together with a video and then break up into appropriate age groups to dig deeper in the weekly Bible story, play games, and do other crafts and activities. We have a crew of dedicated and creative Sunday School teachers who make sure that all children feel welcome in our Sunday School classes.

Youth in grades 6th through 8th grade enter into a comprehensive Confirmation Program that includes Sunday classes which cover a breadth of topics such as: God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, Understanding Worship and the Sacraments, Christian History, Local Church History, Mission, and a special section about the tough issues teens face. In addition Confirmation students attend an opening and closing retreat, take part in a plethora of service projects, and enjoy the fellowship of growing together as Christians.

We also offer 4 adult Sunday School classes:

Young at Heart: This group varies in age but centers around trying to understand scripture in fresh and new ways. The Young at Heart Class is the group most engaged in mission activity in our church - often planning and lending a hand to a variety of service events in the church and community.

Koinonia: This Sunday School class centers around the themes of Christian fellowship, though discussion oriented this class is very traditional in their approach to the Bible.

Christian Journeys: This discussion based class is perfect for someone yearning to learn something new and engage deeply in tough questions. This class uses modern videos and media to try and better understand themselves, the scriptures, and the world around them.

Adult Bible Study: This class will take your back to the days of traditional Sunday School. You'll sing the songs you remember form your youth and participate in a lecture based Bible class.

Nursery Care is provided for babies and toddlers during the entirety of worship. Angela Houck is our dedicated Nursery Superintendent. She provides a safe, clean, and modern environment for your young child to play and learn during worship.

If you looked at our "I'M NEW" page you will have noticed that during the summer our schedule is a little different. We have one combined 9:00 am worship service and no education hour. We always start our combined services the second Sunday in June and our last combined worship is the Sunday before Labor Day in September. The same educational opportunities offered during the 9:30 am service are available during the 9:00 am summer worship (Nursery Care and Children's Church). There is no education hour so Adult Sunday School classes may choose to meet if desired at 8:00 am.
