Observed each year on the third Monday in January as “a day on, not a day off,” MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities. The Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service, the largest King Day event in the nation, promotes year-round volunteer service and civic engagement. In the past, teens from the Greater Boyertown Area have participated in Philadelphia, but in 2019 we decided to engage in our own community on this day of service with mission projects around Boyertown. Join us this year on Monday January 17th for the 2022 MLK Jr. Day of Service. We will be starting and ending our day at Good Shepherd UCC and participating in projects all within walking distance of the church. Lunch and a tee shirt will be provided. All teens 13 years of age and older are welcome.
