The Spirit Filled Life
This message confronts a truth we often avoid: we live in the most entertained, connected, and stuffed generation in history, yet we've never been more empty. Drawing from Ephesians, we're challenged to examine what we reach for when life gets heavy. The apostle Paul's warning against drunkenness isn't just about alcohol—it's about every false filling we turn to instead of God. Whether it's another scroll, another purchase, another relationship, or another distraction, we keep reaching for things that promise satisfaction but deliver emptiness. The invitation is clear: be filled with the Spirit. This isn't a one-time experience but a continuous lifestyle of receiving from God what we cannot manufacture ourselves. What makes this filling different? Alcohol numbs us and makes us less than we're meant to be, but the Spirit transforms us into all we're supposed to be. The proof isn't mystical—it's relational. It shows up in vertical joy toward God and horizontal humility toward others. When we're truly filled, we can't help but sing, give thanks in all circumstances, and submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. The question we must answer is honest and piercing: What comes out of us when life squeezes us? Because pressure doesn't change what's inside—it reveals it.
