A Message from your Consistory President...

10/7/2020

DID YOU KNOW?

Sunday, October 11 is Pastor Appreciation Day. This unofficial holiday began in 1992 with the establishment of Clergy Appreciation Month. I am not sure who or where this observation began but it has biblical precedent. In Timothy 1 (5:17), Paul began the concept of clergy appreciation when he stated that the elders of the church are worthy of double honor. He reiterated this idea in Thessalonians 1 (5: 12-13) when he stated that those who work hard among you should be held in the highest regard for their work.

On behalf of the members of Good Shepherd I want to thank Pastor Matt and Pastor Kim for their continuing work in support of our church during these trying times. They have continued to provide engaging worship services and provided excellent support to our members during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

What can you do? Please say thank you to them by: 1. Supporting the church financially. 2. Telling your neighbors or friends about our pastors and our church. 3. Sending them a note, email, or text. 4. Volunteer to serve on a committee or provide some type of service to the church. 5. Introduce someone to our on-line worship service.

George Moser, Consistory President on behalf of all Consistory members.

Tuesday Prayer

10/6/2020

Pastor Matt's Tuesday Afternoon Prayer: A Prayer for the Exhausted

Good Shepherd will be opening for worship on Sunday October 18th! We are planning for one service on Sundays at 9:00 am. To keep everyone as safe as possible, in-person worship will be different including, but not limited to, requiring masks, social distancing, and adjusting our worship service. Additionally, we ask that you register to attend worship ahead of time each week - either via an online form that will be available starting on the Monday of the new week or by calling the church office. This will help us to ensure we aren't over-crowding the sanctuary and have everyone's information for contact tracing.

There are 3 documents linked here that will help you navigate this new worship experience: (1) a letter from church leadership (2) an FAQ sheet (3) a description of what to expect Sunday mornings and what's expected of you.

You can email the pastors as well with any questions or if you need support. We continue to try and stay in touch with everyone, but you are always welcome to contact one of us:

pastormatt@gsuccboyertown.org pastorkim@gsuccboyertown.org

Update about online worship:

Worship and other ministry opportunities will continue to be available online. However, the way you access worship online will be different starting this week, Oct. 11th. This week the pastors and church leadership will be trying out our first live-stream to be ready for when congregation members return the 18th. This means on our website, Facebook, and YouTube channel you will be able to watch church LIVE at 9:00 am. There will no longer be a video available before 9:00 am because service won't be pre-recorded.

After the live service is over and the video is processed, a recording of worship will then be available for you to watch later on Sunday or whenever you'd like throughout the week.

The easiest and best way to access these videos live on Sunday or the videos once they've been processed and uploaded is by subscribing to our YouTube channel. Click here and then click the subscribe button.

If this change is confusing for you we will be sending out more information later in the week including everything you need Sunday so you can continue to worship online.

World Communion Sunday Worship

Saturday Story Time with Pastor Kim

10/3/2020

Saturday Story Time with Pastor Kim returns! Hear about what Paul has to say about love.

Our reading comes from the Spark Story Bible thanks to Beaming Books.

Welcome Back Pastor Kim!

10/2/2020

There's a lot brewing right now at Good Shepherd and today we have a few of those things to share!

First, Pastor Kim is back from sabbatical! You will see her in the worship video on Sunday and on both the kids and teens Sunday School Zoom calls on Sunday morning.

Second, if you'd like communion (and want to say hello to both pastors in person) come to Drive-Thru communion this Sunday October 4th from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.

Third, we've added another easy way to give to Good Shepherd! There is a DONATE button on our Good Shepherd public Facebook page. This also means some of our posts may also have the DONATE or GIVE button attached. There are two great benefits to donating to Good Shepherd through Facebook: (1) Since we are a non-profit, Facebook does not take any fees from what we collect (2) You can have fundraisers on your own Facebook page for Good Shepherd. You may see people doing this for their birthdays for a variety of non-profit organizations and now Good Shepherd is one of them! If at any point you'd like to have a fundraiser for Good Shepherd on your personal page and can't figure it out, let Pastor Kim know and she'll help you through it.

You can CLICK HERE to visit our Facebook page!

If you have a burning faith question or something you would like to see us discuss to e-mail Pastor Matt (pastormatt@gsuccboyertown.org). All askers will be kept anonymous
